When you're signed in, Lines keeps your lyrics, parts, and practice progress safely in the cloud and in sync across every device you use. Start a song on your phone and pick it up later somewhere else - everything is right where you left it.
How Sync Works
Sync happens automatically in the background while you use the app. Whenever you add or edit lyrics, chunk a song into parts, or finish a practice session, those changes are uploaded to your account and pulled down on your other devices the next time they sync.
You need an account to sync
Sync requires you to be signed in. If you're using Lines as a guest, your work stays on your device until you sign in - see Starting as a Guest below.
How to Sync Manually
You don't normally need to sync by hand, but if you want to make sure a device is fully up to date, you can trigger a sync on demand:
- Tap the gear icon () in the top-right corner of the home screen to open Settings
- At the top of Settings, find the sync status row in your account section. It shows your current state - for example “Backed up”, “Syncing…” while it works, or “Waiting for connection” when you're offline - along with when you last synced
- Tap the row to sync now
Pull to refresh
On the home screen you can also pull down on your list of lyrics to refresh and pull in the latest changes from your other devices.
Using Lines Offline
Lines is offline-first, so a connection is never required for day-to-day use. You can add lyrics, chunk songs, and run full practice sessions with no signal at all. Anything you do offline is saved on your device immediately and synced automatically the moment you're back online.
Starting as a Guest
You don't need an account to start using Lines. Choose to continue without an account and you can add lyrics and practice right away. Whenever you're ready, sign in - and everything you created as a guest stays with you and uploads to your account so it's backed up and available on your other devices.
Sign in to keep your work safe
Signing in backs up your library to the cloud. We recommend signing in so your lyrics and progress are never tied to a single device. See the Account Management guide for sign-in options.
